Craig Pickup is the founder of the British LDS Topographical Dictionary project. Growing up in Lancashire, Craig became familiar with many of the Church historic sites in Britain as a young boy and his love and interest in the rise and progress of the Church has grown since then.
For five years he ran the Latter-day Saints Online Web site providing information about the Church within the British Isles, containing both current and historical information. (The site was closed down and the domain passed over to the Church on the initiation of an official British LDS site in 2003.)
A number of years ago Craig started looking at the idea of establishing a British LDS Historical Society, a goal he would still like to see happen. At the same time he conceived the idea of a Topographical Guide to LDS Britain covering each location connected with the Church within the UK. He began to collect research information for this project but was frustrated at how little was readily available in Britain itself. Hampered by this lack of local information the project progressed slowly. In 2004 his wife was rediagnosed with cancer and passed away causing him to shelf the project and concentrate on looking after his young family. Seven years later, now living in Utah, he decided to resurrect the project through this web site.
Craig hopes that others with an interest in British LDS History will support and contribute to the project.
